Heat pump rebates in Ontario

Rebates can take a real bite out of the cost of a heat pump. Here’s what’s open right now, what has closed, and how we help you qualify.

What’s available now

The Home Renovation Savings Program is run by Save on Energy and Enbridge Gas. It offers rebates on eligible home upgrades, including air-source and ground-source heat pumps and smart thermostats. Some heat pump rebates are available without a home energy assessment.

Heat pumps have to be on the program’s eligible list and installed by a participating contractor. The rebate depends on the type and size of the system and how your home is heated today.

Programs that have closed

Older articles still mention these. They are not taking new applications.

  • Canada Greener Homes Grant: closed.
  • Canada Greener Homes Loan: closed to new applicants.
  • Enbridge Home Efficiency Rebate: replaced by the Home Renovation Savings Program in 2025.
  • Oil to Heat Pump Affordability Program: closed to new applications on July 31, 2026.

How we help

  • We confirm the system we quote is on the eligible list before you commit.
  • We size the heat pump with a room-by-room heat-loss calculation, which the best rebates expect.
  • We hand over the invoice, model numbers and install details your application needs.

Rebate questions

Do I need an energy assessment to get a heat pump rebate?

Not always. The Home Renovation Savings Program lists some heat pump rebates as available without a home energy assessment. Other upgrades, and some higher rebates, need one. The program site shows which path applies to you.

Who applies for the rebate, me or the contractor?

The homeowner applies, using the invoice and equipment details from the installer. We give you everything the application asks for, including model numbers and the installation date.

I heat with gas. Can I still get a rebate?

Possibly, but amounts can differ depending on how your home is heated now. Check the program’s current terms for your heating fuel, or ask us and we’ll look at it with you.
